Zuka Advent 2020 Day 3: Nozomi Fuuto
Dec. 3rd, 2020 02:07 pmI was debating all day wether or not I wanted to save My True Zuka Love for later on in the month, but i'm writing these on a whim anyways as I remember people exist, so I said fuck it. Head empty, only Daimon.
Day 3: Nozomi Fuuto
Man, what can I say about Daimon that hasn't already been said by others? She's the REAL reason i'm stuck in this hell because Air made the mistake of showing me Elisabeth (2014) right after Elisabeth (2018) and KNEW I loved Luigi Lucheni (This is a trend. Get used to it.). After that tragic choice was made, I was shown the Don Phantspierre trilogy (Don Juan, Phantom, Robespierre) and, well, I was stuck in Yukigumi hell and wasn't climbing out anytime soon. I'm actually kind of fortunate to have hopped in at a time knowing that she's leaving, because now I get to experience The Pain of losing a favourite sienne sooner, rather than later. I already view her as like, a legend that is eternal anyways, so i'll only fill up three buckets of tears come Feb/April.

What is your favourite role and why? I'd hope it was obvious by now, but my favourite roles are the ham roles, and Luigi Lucheni ticks all my boxes. Daimon's performance in particular will always have a special place in my heart, even as the role gets improved upon by different interpretations (Though my favourites are the ones that are clearly inspired by/obviously a tribute to Daimon *coughReikocough* 😉). Other notable roles of hers I enjoy (please note I have NOT seen a lot of HanaDaimon) are of course, Don Juan and Erik (Phantom, 2018), but I also love her villainous roles in Lupin III and Kenshin. Special shoutout goes to Genta in One Night of Stars because that show ruined me (in all the best ways).
What is your favourite thing about them? Gosh, where do I start? She's funny, adorable, a huge ham, and struggles to clap on 2/4 beat. The thing I like the most about her, however, has to be her flawless singing. As a trained singer myself, let me tell you, that shit isn't easy. I also have a particularly good ear for tuning issues and while often times the biggest voices are still a tiny bit off (i'm sorry Aasa you're ALMOST there I love you), I have not heard Daimon be sharp or flat ONCE in her career. She has insane control over her vibrato, even when singing incredibly soft (i'm looking at you, Phantom) and has a phenomenal range. I'm convinced her vocal chords are insured that's how damn good she is. I'd be insanely shocked if she didn't already have contracts coming out the ass for her to stay on stage (but please let her rest first she's tired).
(My favourite "Daimonism" in particular, however, goes to the Phantom rehearsals where her and Saki wore Phantom shirts because they're BIG NERDS. I like to imagine Daimon called up Saki in a sweat at like 2AM and was like, "Saki. They're filming rehearsals tomorrow. Wear your Phantom shirt." and Saki, half awake, was like "nani the fuck" but did it anyways.)
What would you like to see them do? Well, this is a bit of a tough one to answer because, well, *gestures wildly* she's kinda leaving in April. So, i'll be self indulgent and start manifesting Daikiho Elisabeth on the Toho stage. It'll be Too Powerful I need it (thanks NZM for giving us that tragic TINY taste of What Could Have Been).
I have an inkling of an idea of who i'm gonna do tomorrow (Our first Musumeyaku, perhaps?), so stay tuned!
